NW 66th

NW 66th and NW Beaver Drive Improvements - A Polk County project involving the city of Johnston.

PROJECT UPDATE (6/13/19)
Some dry weather has allowed progress to be made on the construction of the traffic signals at NW 26th Street/NW 66 Avenue, as well as at the intersection of NW Toni Drive and NW 66th Avenue.

Therefore, beginning Saturday night (June 15), Des Moines Asphalt and Paving will resurface all of NW 66 Avenue using multiple pavers from NW 23 St. to NW Toni Drive. This work Saturday night will require the closure of NW 66 Avenue from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Posted detours will be in place during this time period.

The resurfacing of NW 26th Street north of NW 66 Avenue will be completed on Monday, June 24. This will require this portion of NW 26th Street to be closed from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to allow construction to be completed. A detour will be established during this time period.

Work to complete the surface of NW 26th Street south of NW 66 Avenue will be performed on Tuesday, June 25, and Wednesday, June 26. This will require this portion of NW 26th Street to be closed both days from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to allow construction to be completed. A detour will be established during this time period as well.

Of course, this schedule may be modified if weather conditions delay the completion of any part of this construction. While some minor shoulder work and other clean-up items will remain, this will substantially complete this 3rd and final phase of the NW 66 Avenue/Kempton Bridge Reconstruction project.
